Pleasanton is 1-9 against Ansley/Litchfield since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pleasanton Bulldogs will take on the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans in a tournament on Tuesday. Pleasanton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
On Friday, Pleasanton came up short against Fullerton and fell 52-43.
Despite the loss, Pleasanton got top-tier performance from Brennan Lindner, who posted 29 points. That was a full 67.4% of Pleasanton's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.
Ansley/Litchfield played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They strolled past Sumner-Eddyville-Miller with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.
Ansley/Litchfield's win came from a few key players Pleasanton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Bailey, who had 13 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Cunningham, who put up ten points and five steals.
Ansley/Litchfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Pleasanton, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Tuesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lindner and Bailey. Lindner has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 20.2 points. For his part, Bailey has averaged 25.5 points, 4.2 steals, and 10.8 rebounds.
Pleasanton ended up a good deal behind Ansley/Litchfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 54-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bailey, who went 11 of 13 on his way to 29 points along with seven boards and five steals.
