Basketball Recap: Wright Comes Up Short

Wright was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Pine Bluffs Hornets, falling 65-38. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-42 last Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Wright lost, don't look at Dani Barnhurst. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points and three steals. Barnhurst is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Umiker, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Wright's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Pine Bluffs, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Wright has already played their next matchup, a 42-38 win against Niobrara County on the 17th. As for Pine Bluffs, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Southeast at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
