Baseball Game Preview: Wayne County War Eagles vs. Stone Tomcats

The Wayne County War Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Stone Tomcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Wayne County will bounce into Friday's game after beating Stone, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Wayne County came out on top in a nail-biter against Stone on Tuesday, sneaking past 10-8. The win was a breath of fresh air for the War Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brayson Graham made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hudsen Mills and Jacob Bowles did most of the damage at the plate: Mills scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Bowles scored a run while going 1-for-3. Bowles also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Wayne County is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dallen Holifield, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Wayne County now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Stone, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
