Baseball Recap: Hickory Christian Academy Now 11-2 over Last 13 Games

Hickory Christian Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Caldwell Academy Eagles 5-4. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 4-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jude Carter was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Carter wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Davis Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Hickory Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Caldwell Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-16.

Coming up, Hickory Christian Academy will head out to take on Freedom Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. Caldwell Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
