Basketball Game Preview: Seminole Warhawks vs. Countryside Cougars

The Seminole Warhawks will face off against the Countryside Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Seminole's tournament run continued when they took on NSU University on Sunday. Seminole walked away with a 68-58 victory over NSU University.

Meanwhile, Countryside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 81-76 heartbreaker at the hands of Northside Christian. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Mustangs are ranked 425th).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Corey Perlin and Elijah Ahlers. Ahlers had a great game and dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. Meanwhile, Perlin was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds.

Countryside's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Seminole, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Seminole beat Countryside 57-49 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Perlin, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 31 points and seven boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Seminole still be able to contain Perlin? There's only one way to find out.
