Baseball Recap: Bartow's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Bartow came into Monday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Leon Lions on Monday.

Elijah Jenkins was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christopher Glover, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Bartow's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Leon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bartow will head out to square off against Mulberry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mulberry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Leon, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Meade at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Fort Meade 3.8, Leon 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
