Soccer Game Preview: Armijo vs. Johnson

The Armijo Royals are taking a road trip to challenge the Johnson Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Armijo's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Fairfield with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Fairfield with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Eddie Fierros, Edwin Montano, and Artemio Perez Valadez.

Meanwhile, Johnson won against West Campus on Tuesday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Thursday. Johnson came out on top against Burbank by a score of 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Johnson used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Burbank. And. Hector Romero Pita made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Johnson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those six contests. As for Armijo, they pushed their record up to 7-4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Armijo took their victory against Johnson in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Armijo since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
