Softball Game Preview: Lamar Texans vs. Sterling Rangers

The Lamar Texans will head out on the road to challenge the Sterling Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Lamar is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against New Caney, falling 12-3.

Hailey Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two).

Meanwhile, Sterling didn't have quite enough to beat St. Pius X on Thursday and fell 3-2.

Lamar's record is now 0-2. As for Sterling, their record is now 1-1.

Everything went Lamar's way against Sterling in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Lamar made off with a 9-2 win. Does Lamar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sterling turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
