Basketball Recap: Jay Murray's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Carteret over Kinston

West Carteret lost against Kinston back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The West Carteret Patriots took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kinston Vikings.

West Carteret lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jay Murray, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jasiah Jones, who posted nine points and five boards.

West Carteret's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Kinston, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

West Carteret wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-44 defeat against Swansboro on the 11th. As for Kinston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-41 win against North Lenoir on the 13th.
