Preview: Dolores Bears vs. Dove Creek Bulldogs
Dolores is 0-10 against Dove Creek since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Both teams will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dolores is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-19, which was the final score in Dolores' tilt against North Park on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Dove Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-42 win over Nucla. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Dove Creek did.
Dove Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Taylor Hampton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Ralynn Hickman, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Hickman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Dolores' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Dove Creek, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Dolores ended up a good deal behind Dove Creek in their previous matchup on Friday, losing 45-30. Can Dolores avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
