Volleyball Game Preview: Portsmouth Patriots vs. Block Island

The Portsmouth Patriots will head out on the road to face off against Block Island at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Portsmouth is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: South Kingstown, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Portsmouth was ranked ninth). The Patriots fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Block Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against North Providence, falling 3-0.

Portsmouth's loss dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Block Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Everything went Portsmouth's way against Block Island when the teams last played back in April, as Portsmouth made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
