Basketball Recap: Dunsmuir Starts Season with Loss at Home

Dunsmuir unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Burney Raiders on Tuesday, falling 62-2. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-2.

Logan Dillon was Dunsmuir's leading scorer, having posted two points.

Burney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elliot Compton, who went 9-for-11 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Hayden Bower was another key player, shooting 56% from the field to rack up 10 points in addition to six assists and six steals.

Looking ahead, Dunsmuir will take on Hayfork at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Burney, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-32 loss against Fall River on the 4th.
