Baseball Recap: Sandia Prep Wins Going Away Against Dexter

Sandia Prep's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Dexter Demons as they made off with a 17-6 win. The Sundevils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Demons, too.

Landon Hardcastle was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Sandia Prep's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lucas Ruelas, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

Sandia Prep pushed their record up to 7-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Dexter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Coming up, Sandia Prep will face off against New Mexico Military Institute at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sundevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Dexter, they will take on Tularosa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
