Softball Game Preview: Marbury Bulldogs vs. Chilton County Tigers

The Marbury Bulldogs will head out to take on the Chilton County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Marbury came up short against Elmore County and fell 7-4. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Marbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hays, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Sara Roeten also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Chilton County had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They beat the Red Devils by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaylee Dunn spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Macey Pierce was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Avree Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Chilton County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Chilton County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Marbury, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Marbury took their victory against Chilton County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. Will Marbury repeat their success, or does Chilton County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
