Volleyball Recap: Encinal Jets vs. Alameda Hornets
There's no place like home for Encinal, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Alameda Hornets out 3-2 on Thursday. For the Jets, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another on October 9th.
Encinal wouldn't go down easily and took Alameda into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 15-12.
Encinal found their leader in freshman Logan Chen, who had 17 digs and four aces. Chen is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last three games she's played.
Chen wasn't the only good server: Encinal was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matches.
The win got Encinal back to even at 15-15. As for Alameda, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 12-15.
After both having extra time off, Encinal and College Prep will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
