Baseball Game Preview: Christoval Cougars vs. Sonora Broncos

The Christoval Cougars will square off against the Sonora Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Christoval's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Sonora has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Christoval is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 22 runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Harper on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to the Longhorns.

William Nye was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Nye was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Nye wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ty DeBusk, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Sonora came up short against Colorado on Tuesday, falling 9-2.

Christoval's loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Sonora, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Sonora's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Christoval has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Sonora, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Christoval's hitters?

Everything went Christoval's way against Sonora in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Christoval made off with a 12-1 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
