Basketball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. Morgan County Cougars

Russell has gone a perfect 10-0 against Morgan County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Russell Red Devils will challenge the Morgan County Cougars at 8:00 p.m. Russell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Russell earned a 60-52 victory over Raceland. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Russell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabby Oborne, who posted 22 points and eight rebounds. Oborne's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Bethany Allen was another key player, shooting 63% from the field en route to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Morgan County suffered their biggest loss since January 16th on Thursday. They were outmatched by East Carter and fell 65-38. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Russell's victory bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Morgan County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.

Russell didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Morgan County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. Will Russell repeat their success, or does Morgan County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
