Cabrini came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Taylor Prep Tigers a 5-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Monarchs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Eddie Hughes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Hughes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Hughes wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Bergdoll, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Jace Cetnar, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Cabrini's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Taylor Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9-1.

Coming up, Cabrini will challenge Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Taylor Prep, they will square off against Southfield Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
