Basketball Recap: Walnut Springs Comes Up Short

Walnut Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Lingleville Cardinals, falling 60-22. The Hornets lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 55-54 score last time.

Lingleville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Issac Martinez led the charge by going 6 for 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Rives, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Walnut Springs now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Lingleville, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Walnut Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-22 loss against Gorman on the 7th. Lingleville has also already played their next matchup, an 80-59 victory against Iredell on the 7th.
