Football Recap: Blacksburg Comes Up Short

Blacksburg's last matchup with Union County could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. The Wildcats were outmatched by the Yellowjackets and fell 49-7. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Union County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Qa Brannon, who threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in one rushing score. Those 260 passing yards gave Brannon a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Akeem Shaw`, who picked up 112 receiving yards and one TD.

Blacksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Union County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Blacksburg will challenge Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Union County, they will head out to square off against Chester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Cyclones' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
