Soccer Game Preview: Coastal Brigade vs. Christ Covenant

Coastal Brigade are taking a road trip to take on the Christ Covenant Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Coastal Brigade knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Christ Covenant likes a good challenge.

Coastal Brigade had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the eight-goal drubbing they dealt Living Water Christian last Tuesday. Coastal Brigade's defense stepped up to hand Living Water Christian an 8-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Coastal Brigade's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Living Water Christian is ranked 449th).

Meanwhile, Christ Covenant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Community Christian, falling 5-2. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Christ Covenant struggled afterwards.

Christ Covenant's loss dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Coastal Brigade, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2-2.

Everything went Coastal Brigade's way against Christ Covenant in their previous matchup back in August, as Coastal Brigade made off with a 6-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coastal Brigade since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
