Basketball Game Preview: Alexandria Valley Cubs vs. Talladega Tigers

Alexandria and Talladega are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Alexandria Valley Cubs are taking a road trip to face off against the Talladega Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Alexandria's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.

Last Tuesday, Alexandria strolled past Cherokee County with points to spare, taking the game 61-46.

Meanwhile, Talladega ended up a good deal behind Handley on Tuesday and lost 72-55. While losing is never fun, Talladega can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Handley is ranked 139th).

This is the second loss in a row for Talladega and nudges their season record down to 4-12. As for Alexandria, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Alexandria against Talladega in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 96-59 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alexandria since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
