Basketball Game Preview: Miami Country Day Spartans vs. Westminster Christian Warriors

Having just played yesterday, the Miami Country Day Spartans will get right back to it and host the Westminster Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Miami Country Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.

Miami Country Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Coral Gables by a score of 84-73 on Tuesday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Miami Country Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Fernando Romero led the charge by going 9 of 10 en route to 23 points. Romero's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chaim Galbut, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Westminster Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Divine Savior Academy by a score of 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since December 7, 2024.

Miami Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Westminster Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Miami Country Day didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Westminster Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win.
