League recap: J.P. Stevens' Blanco delivers best pitching performance from past week

Greater Middlesex - Red's top pitcher this week was J.P. Stevens's Andrew Blanco. He picked up two wins and 21 strikeouts.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to Sayreville (22-1, 13-1), undefeated over its last 12 games. In the past week, the Bombers won another three games, including an 11-2 win over Edison. Christian Campbell led Sayreville's offense with five hits and two RBIs this week.

Piscataway boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Chiefs' pitchers have been charged with only 173 hits and have struck out 103 batters. Brandon Charles is tops on the staff with 53 Ks.

The Hawks led the league in hits this week with 74, but South Brunswick is still the season leader, with 234. Jasdeep Buttar has a team-high 25 hits on the season for second-place J.P. Stevens, which went 2-1 this week.

Buttar led the league with 10 hits this week for the Hawks. He is eighteenth in the league with 25 hits this year, and has a .352 batting average.



Sayreville's Christian Campbell threw seven shutout innings in an 11-2 win over Edison on Saturday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out 14, while giving up one hits.

Christian Campbell led Sayreville to a win on May 17, as he notched 14 strikeouts to beat East Brunswick, 1-0.
