Softball Recap: Shawnee Mission West Starts Season with Victory Against Washington

Shawnee Mission West took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Washington Wildcats a 16-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Washington is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Shawnee Mission West and Washington will both be playing Sumner Academy the next time they take the field. Washington will head out to face Sumner Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Shawnee Mission West will host them at 5:30 p.m. on May 14.
