Softball Recap: Silver Creek Takes a Loss

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Silver Creek was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Floyd Central Highlanders. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Silver Creek got a good showing from Karmen McMillan, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, McMillan gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Kaitlyn Whitlock was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Allen, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Silver Creek's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Floyd Central, they pushed their record up to 23-4 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Silver Creek will host Columbus North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Floyd Central, they will face off against Bedford North Lawrence at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
