Softball Recap: Somerset Academy Wins Going Away Against Calvary Christian Academy

Somerset Academy hadn't done well against Calvary Christian Academy recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Panthers blew past the Eagles 15-7. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered an 11-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Emily Munoz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Munoz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kiera Carbone was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Avery Casteel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Somerset Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy will host Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will welcome Boca Raton Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Blazers at the right time seeing as the Blazers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
