Pewaukee will be up against a hot Brookfield Central squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Lancers blew past Waukesha North 8-2 on Wednesday.
The team relied heavily on Ellie Brand, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Daina Bieck, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Brookfield Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pewaukee made easy work of Campbellsport on Tuesday and carried off an 8-2 win. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Samantha Brewster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Estella Levas was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Hutchens, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Brookfield Central's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pewaukee, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Brookfield Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Pewaukee struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
