Volleyball Game Preview: Manchester Lancers vs. James River Midlothian Rapids

The Manchester Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the James River Midlothian Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Manchester is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Midlothian, who was ranked fourth at the time (Manchester was ranked 19th). The Lancers fell 3-1 to the Trojans on Tuesday. The Lancers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

James River Midlothian not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on L.C. Bird with a sharp 3-0 win. The Rapids haven't had any issues with the Skyhawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

James River Midlothian's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Manchester, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Everything went Manchester's way against James River Midlothian in their previous matchup back in September, as Manchester made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
