Basketball Recap: Serra Catholic Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Serra Catholic extended their road winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Tyler Sapida. The Serra Catholic Eagles blew past the St. Joseph Spartans 64-31 on Tuesday thanks in part to Sapida, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Dumbroski, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season.

St. Joseph lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being John Marino, who put up nine points. That's the most points Marino has posted since back in December of 2023. Ryan McCarthy was another key player, putting up eight points.

Serra Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for St. Joseph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Serra Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 73-44 defeat against Neighborhood Academy on the 10th. As for St. Joseph, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-47 loss against Monessen on the 10th.
