Recap: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Windsor Wizards
The Fort Collins Lambkins struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Windsor Wizards had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fort Collins took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windsor. It was the first time this season that Fort Collins let down their fans at home.
Fort Collins lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Avery Alcaraz, who scored 17 points. Alcaraz scored a full 37% of Fort Collins' points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Claire Wagstaff was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Windsor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reyleigh Hess out in front who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. The game was Hess' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabella Hilliard, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Fort Collins' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2. As for Windsor, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Collins will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ponderosa at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Ponderosa is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. Windsor will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Longmont at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
