The Federal Way Eagles will face off against the Auburn Mountainview Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Federal Way made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jefferson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-12 margin over the Raiders on Tuesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Sosephina Sailiai was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-6. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Meeghan Meagher, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Sailiai wasn't the only one making solid contact: Federal Way kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Auburn Mountainview had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 15-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Kayla Kisling, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Tessa Trippy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Auburn Mountainview's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.4 runs over those games. As for Federal Way, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Federal Way hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Auburn Mountainview struggles in that department as they've averaged .475. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Federal Way might still be hurting after the 19-1 defeat they got from Auburn Mountainview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
