Softball Recap: Dawson-Bryant Takes Down South Webster in a Playoff Battle

Dawson-Bryant had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the South Webster Jeeps by a score of 7-4 on Wednesday. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Abbie Deeds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kasey Vanderhoof, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mia Haynes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dawson-Bryant pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for South Webster, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Dawson-Bryant nor South Webster have any future games scheduled.
