Basketball Game Preview: Reagan Bison vs. Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks

Reagan has won three straight games at home, while Archbishop McCarthy has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Reagan Bison will get right back to it and host the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Reagan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.

Reagan fought the good fight in their overtime game against Miramar on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The Bison's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Loss or not, Reagan got some senior leadership from Sebastian Gonzalez and Chris Bravo. Gonzalez posted 18 points and seven boards, while Bravo put up 16 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bravo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronal Hodelin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy strolled past Mater Lakes Academy with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 60-46.

Archbishop McCarthy's win came from a few key players Reagan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Andrew Okafor, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Brody Coffin was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards.

Archbishop McCarthy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Archbishop McCarthy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Reagan, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Reagan took a serious blow against Archbishop McCarthy in their previous matchup back in January, falling 66-28. Thankfully for Reagan, Guy Twitty (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
