Basketball Game Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Douglas Tigers

The Reed Raiders will face off against the Douglas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Reed is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Spanish Springs, who was ranked fourth at the time (Reed was ranked eighth). Reed came up short against Spanish Springs on Friday, falling 60-34. The Raiders have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Douglas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 48-41 to Carson. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly seven points.

Reed will have to keep a close watch on Hailee Koontz and Ashlyn Greenfield, a pair of players who had a big impact on Douglas' prior game. Koontz dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards, while Greenfield posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Koontz is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games she's played. Giana Zinke was another key player, putting up seven points.

Reed's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Douglas, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Reed didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Douglas in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 60-56 victory. Will Reed repeat their success, or does Douglas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
