Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans vs. Kell Longhorns
After a string of seven wins, The Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 42-32 to Kell. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Greater Atlanta Christian still got an impressive performance from Gianlucca "gl" Tiberia, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Tiberia is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Stanton, who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Bryce Clavon was a one-man wrecking crew for Kell as he rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Clavon's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards. Tyriq Green and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Kell's win.
Kell's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Elijah Washington and Tyshawn Natt who racked up five sacks between them.
Greater Atlanta Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Kell, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Greater Atlanta Christian will take on Chattahoochee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chattahoochee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Greater Atlanta Christian is ranked 91st). As for Kell, they will head out on the road to face off against North Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Springs is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
