Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Creighton Prep walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Omaha Central Eagles a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The Bluejay haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Creighton Prep got a great performance from Braden Cato as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Cato has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cal Anthony, who fired off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Anthony, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Creighton Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Central only posted an OBP of .118.

Creighton Prep's record now sits at 23-13. As for Omaha Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-19 record.

Looking ahead, Creighton Prep will be taking part in a tournament against Millard South at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bluejay's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Omaha Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
