The Ouachita Parish Lions will head out to challenge the Alexandria Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Ouachita Parish is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Neville, who was ranked 11th at the time (Ouachita Parish was ranked 17th). The Lions and the Tigers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Lions suffered a 38-37 defeat. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Montrell Conner, who threw for 361 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt. His passing game has become a key predictor of Ouachita Parish's success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Macario Dade Jr handled things on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Dylan Berymon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Ouachita Parish; they were averaging 6.8yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 4.7 per game.
Alexandria hadn't beaten Ruston on the road since November 16, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Trojans strolled past the Bearcats with points to spare, taking the game 45-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Ouachita Parish better keep an eye on Kason Williams. He was instrumental in Alexandria's win, rushing for 219 yards, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 219 rushing yards gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karsen Sellers, who threw for 113 yards and four TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Alexandria, adding 14 points to the final score. All came from Eli Fung: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 5-for-5 kicking extra points for an additional five.
Alexandria's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Ouachita Parish, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Ouachita Parish has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Alexandria struggles in that department as they've been averaging 206.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Ouachita Parish took a serious blow against Alexandria in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 55-12. Thankfully for the Lions, Jt Lindsey (who rushed for 215 yards and three scores on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
