Softball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Drops Highest Score of Season Against Okaw Valley

Cerro Gordo/Bement hadn't done well against Okaw Valley recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 22-10 margin over the Timberwolves. The Broncos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mya Durbin was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Cerro Gordo/Bement got a massive performance out of Jillian Durbin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Durbin has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Personette, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4.

Cerro Gordo/Bement hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Okaw Valley struck out 11 times.

The win made it two in a row for Cerro Gordo/Bement and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Okaw Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
