Basketball Recap: West Laurens Piles Up the Points Against Hephzibah

A well-balanced attack led West Laurens over Hephzibah in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the West Laurens Raiders blew the Hephzibah Rebels out of the water with a 70-38 final score. The Raiders pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Laurens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nas Jones, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dorian Watkins, who went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Hephzibah's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of ISAIAH RICHARDSON, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards, and JAMARCUS SALMOND, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points. RICHARDSON is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.

West Laurens is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Hephzibah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-15.

West Laurens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-55 defeat against East Laurens on the 25th. As for Hephzibah, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-44 loss against Academy of Richmond County on the 25th.
