Baseball Game Preview: Pulaski County Cougars vs. Vero Beach Indians

The Pulaski County Cougars will head out to challenge the Vero Beach Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pulaski County barely beat Cave Spring the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Vero Beach beat South Fork 8-4 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly four runs.

Sebastian Dimitroff tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daveyon Kelly, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-1. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Romans, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Vero Beach pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Pulaski County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
