Soccer Game Preview: Riverdale vs. Washington Union

The Riverdale Cowboys will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Washington Union Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverdale took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They never let Hanford West onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. The Cowboys' winning goal came courtesy of Javier Duarte.

Meanwhile, Washington Union had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Blue Raiders.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three contests. As for Washington Union, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
