Football Game Preview: Summit Academy Bears vs. San Juan Broncos

Summit Academy is 1-9 against San Juan since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bears will challenge the Broncos at 10:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Summit Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Emery to the tune of 48-14.

Meanwhile, San Juan came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 57 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 77-2 victory over the Bulldogs. The Broncos pushed the score to 71-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had no chance of recovering from.

Summit Academy better keep an eye on Jagger Nieves. He was instrumental in San Juan's win, rushing for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, while also picking up 54 receiving yards and two TDs. Nieves' rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 13th straight game with at least 108 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Beau Yeomans, who threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.

San Juan's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Summit Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Summit Academy suffered a grim 50-29 defeat to San Juan in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
