Softball Recap: Kennedy Has No Trouble Against Waukegan

Kennedy came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Waukegan Bulldogs on Saturday as they made off with a 23-17 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylie Gallas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gallas was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Kayleigh Bendik, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Bendik has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jaida Rebolledo, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles.

Kennedy's record is now 15-8-1. As for Waukegan, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy will welcome Juarez at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Waukegan, they will be playing at home against Libertyville at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
