Volleyball Recap: Winter Springs Has No Trouble Against Oviedo

Winter Springs barely beat Oviedo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lions on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.

One reason for the win was Winter Springs' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-20, 25-17.

Skyler Martinez paced Winter Springs' offense, picking up 17 kills. Martinez got some help from Zeke Register and his 25 assists. Finally, Register was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Winter Springs' win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Oviedo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Winter Springs will venture away from home to take on Apopka at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears are facing the Blue Darters at the right time seeing as the Blue Darters are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Oviedo, they will be playing at home against Crooms Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
