Baseball Game Preview: Legend Titans vs. Higley Knights

The Legend Titans will head out on the road to take on the Higley Knights at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Legend has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Higley will come in with four straight wins.

Legend saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain View.

Jacob Fladebo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Higley). They put the hurt on Niwot with a sharp 13-0 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Jet Gonzalez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Nate Kimmel was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Cam Jantz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Higley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Higley pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Legend, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
