Softball Recap: Ramona Convent Wins Going Away Against Serra

After only two runs in their last game, Ramona Convent made sure to put some runs up on the board against Serra on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 26-3 margin over the Cavaliers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 33-4 back in March.

Madison Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Delicia Murillo and Rosie Rosales did most of the damage at the plate: Murillo scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances, while Rosales scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, Rosales posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. Abigail Vazquez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Ramona Convent was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .576. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Ramona Convent pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Serra, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ramona Convent will face off against Westridge at 3:30 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Serra, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mary Star of the Sea at 3:15 p.m. on the 29th.
