Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Jupiter Christian's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Jupiter Christian won the last time they faced Greenacres Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Jupiter Christian Eagles strolled past the Greenacres Christian Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 74-59. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Jupiter Christian had a senior duo take command as Matthew Barrett dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards and Jordan Rivera posted 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The contest was Barrett's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Becker, who had 12 points and six rebounds.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendan Daniels, who scored 18 points and six boards. Daniels is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jashad Hymes, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Jupiter Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Greenacres Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jupiter Christian and Somerset College Prep Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Jupiter Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season. As for Greenacres Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palm Beach Gardens knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Greenacres Christian likes a good challenge.
