Softball Recap: Citronelle Wildcats vs. Jackson Aggies
Citronelle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jackson Aggies. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Aggies this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-0 loss last Tuesday.
Jodee Lambert was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in February of 2024.
On the hitting side, Citronelle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Dickinson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Dickinson's first of the season. Another was Mack Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Citronelle's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Jackson, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Citronelle has already played their next game (against Leroy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Jackson, they will challenge W.S. Neal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for W.S. Neal: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Jackson has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
