Baseball Recap: Central Has No Trouble Against Dexter

The matchup between Central and Dexter on Friday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Tigers put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 14-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Caden Chenoweth made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Chenoweth was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Jathan Spain was a standout: he fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-5. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Bowers, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Dexter, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Central will face off against St. Louis Homeschool at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dexter, they will take on Advance at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
